Why was it founded?
APOLLO was founded in 2019 by Jeff McCann, after leaving his job as a VP at a large BC Brokerage. Jeff saw an opportunity to digitize insurance and was fortunate to find mentors in the industry on hand. When it was time to start the APOLLO journey, he was supported by leaders in the BC tech community, many of whom now sit on APOLLO’s advisory board. APOLLO is now Canada’s largest digitally-enabled insurance marketplace, empowering brokers, consumers, and underwriters to apply for, quote, and purchase insurance policies in real-time.

How are you innovating?
APOLLO was launched to solve multiple problems in the insurance industry from the
paperwork, the back and forth, the frustration customers and brokers would go through, to the entire process when it comes to binding and purchasing insurance. APOLLO wanted to solve those issues while still providing incredible advice and counsel. APOLLO took the original vision and created a vision where computers do the work, for people can focus on building relationships.

By the numbers
APOLLO Exchange platform currently has over 4,000 individual broker users, representing nearly 12% of Canada’s total broker force. We continue to launch new products to meet market demand. This past year, APOLLO has added several new products and will continue to build and deploy products that their users are asking for.

What are the long-term goals?
APOLLO’s plans for 2021 consist of listening closely to their customers, developing a strong team that is empowered to serve and delight their users. APOLLO will continue to release significant products and technology updates by adding new products to their platform all the time - truly creating a one-stop for all things insurance.
