Janet Bannister
Kijiji Founder and Founder & Managing Partner at Staircase Ventures
Janet is the Founder and Managing Partner of Staircase Ventures. Staircase recognizes that founders are the bedrock upon which companies are built and therefore provides unparalleled dedication to accelerating founders’ development and performance. Prior to launching Staircase Ventures, Janet was Managing Partner at Real Ventures, one of Canada’s largest and most active early-stage investors. In 2004, Janet launched Kijiji.ca and grew it to become one of the most visited websites in Canada. Subsequently, she led the Kijiji Global business, launching the website in new countries and accelerating growth in North America, Europe, and Asia. Janet also spent four years at eBay in Silicon Valley where she helped transform eBay from a Collectibles to a mainstream marketplace. In addition, Janet is very active in the Canadian tech ecosystem; she is the Co-Chair of C100 and on the Boards of Communitech in Waterloo, Vector Institute in Toronto, and Ivey Business School. She is also a mentor at Creative Destruction Lab.
Raymond Chik
Co-founder & Consultant at Untether AI
Dr. Chik is a serial entrepreneur, and has co-founded several semiconductor start-ups in the areas of ASIC and Analog/Mixed-Signal IP design services and image sensors. He is a senior member of IEEE, and served as the founding chair of the Toronto IEEE Solid-State Circuits Chapter. In 2022, Dr. Chik was honoured with the ACCE startup of the year award.

For more than a decade, Alex has helped organizations big and small successfully build their brands and “tell better stories”. A communications and design specialist by trade, Alex understands the complexities of technology and how to best deliver your message in a persuasive and memorable way. Born and raised in Toronto, he’s helped build brands and businesses on a global scale with stints in New York and London, UK. To date, he’s collaborated with clients that include MIT, Techstars, MasterCard, Unilever, TELUS, Nissan, and AB InBev to launch iconic initiatives across Europe and North America throughout his career.
