Our conversation with our guests typically reviews their career journey, the early days of their company, lessons from scaling and a few fun personal questions.

Lucas Matheson
CEO at Coinbase Canada
Lucas Matheson is the CEO of Coinbase Canada, overseeing its strategic direction and growth within the Canadian market since January 2023. In this role, Lucas is dedicated to making digital assets more accessible to Canadians, and expanding our regulatory framework to help upgrade the financial system in Canada. Before his current position at Coinbase, Lucas led various operational and financial teams at Shopify as Senior Director of Operations and Director of Strategic Expansion. Lucas also co-founded Pinshape, a consumer marketplace for 3D printable models, where he served as CEO until its acquisition by Formlabs. Lucas earned his MBA from the University of Alberta and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Beyond his professional pursuits, Lucas serves on the board of The University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation.

Christian Weedbrook

Christian Weedbrook is the CEO and Founder of Xanadu Quantum Technologies, a Canadian quantum technology company building fault-tolerant quantum computers using light. Over the last 15 years, he has been at the forefront of bringing quantum technology to the world through his research and leadership in academia, government, and industry. Christian holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Queensland and held postdoc positions at MIT and the University of Toronto.

Ami Shah is the Co-founder and CEO of Peekapak. Peekapak is an award-winning learning platform designed to help students from nursery to grade 12 develop foundational skills that support their wellness and mental health within the academic curriculum. The platform empowers educators by providing a research-based curriculum that includes stories, lessons, and gamified learning activities to enhance both wellness and literacy objectives. As a technology-driven solution, Peekapak offers system-wide reporting to monitor usage, comprehension, and sentiment data, enabling education leaders to proactively address student needs. Peekapak is backed by; Silicon Valley-based accelerator, Imagine K12, the Edtech vertical of YCombinator. Ami has earned an MBA from INSEAD and has previously taught in K-4 classrooms and advised & volunteered at education-related non-profit organizations. For her work, Ami recently was awarded the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Award and Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada.
